Meet the Kentucky Pro DJ Team: Brent Billings

How did you get your start as a DJ?
I got my start DJing through Mandy. She invited me to help her at a school pep rally. She introduced me to Jason and we hit it off and the rest is history.

What are your favorite type of events?

High energy events with a lot of dancing. I LOVE DANCING! If I can make a group of people dance, I am happy. I can often be found dancing behind the booth during your event.

What’s the best kind of bride?
Honestly, I haven’t worked with a bride that I haven’t liked. I haven’t worked with 2 brides that have been the same but I have loved all of them. I know you are stressed (especially on wedding day) and I love being the calm, cool, collected guy to reassure you and your future husband that I’ve got this. My job is to make sure your wedding day goes off without a hitch. And I’m good at it! If you trust me and are willing to communicate with me (because I’m a talker) we will get along nicely.

Tell us about your relationship with music?
I have a very intricate and diverse relationship with music. I always have music playing no matter what I’m doing. I literally like anything and everything when it comes to music. I know a lot of tunes and lyrics and I love all kinds of music. I appreciate all genres and get excited when I hear music. Rap, pop, rock, punk, country, oldies, older oldies, acapalla, remixes, covers, showtunes. You name it, I like it.

How has Kentucky Pro DJ helped you in your career development?
I’m not a shy person and I’m not embarrassed easily. I like to talk and Ky Pro has helped me channel my personality and energy to be more professional and how to keep composure on a microphone in front of large crowds.

What do you like most about working at Kentucky Pro DJ?
The crew! We have the best team and we are so fun to work with. We really know how to have a good time while balancing professionalism on your special day.

What’s the most rewarding part of DJing?
Bringing out feelings in others using music. We all have songs that bring out a certain emotion unlike anything else can. From playing a favorite song or just a song that you haven’t heard in a long time. Using music to make people happy makes me happy. I feel connected to others through music.

How do you define success?
How do you keep yourself young?
High energy and being happy. I am a YES man. I try to never turn down an opportunity, no matter what it may be. I find myself in some different situations but I always make the best and I have some awesome stories because of that.

Who’s your favorite superhero?
Ironman. Tony Stark is such a carefree and fun guy. I don’t like him because of his money, I like him because of his attitude.

What’s your favorite sport?
Whatever sport is in season. I grew up playing Basketball, Soccer, Football, Baseball, Track, Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, and Tennis. I joined a lacrosse club in college because it was something I had never tried before. I love playing and watching all sports. Not just the typical sports either. I have become an extreme sports fan and have gotten into the world of rock climbing and love being outdoors in nature as well.

Where did you graduate from high school?
Berea Community High School. I attended Berea from pre-school all the way through my senior year. My two older sisters also did the same. Berea is a very special place to me.
